Institute Postdoctoral Fellowship (IPF) Programme at IISERTVM

About the Programme

The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvanathapuram (IISER TVM) invites applications from highly qualified young scientists holding Ph.D. in the areas of Biological, Chemical, Mathematical and Physical Sciences/Engineering/Technology for the Institute Postdoctoral Fellowships commencing on 1st August 2016. Applications are invited for the School of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.

School of Biology (SoB): The SoB invites applications in the following areas:

School of Chemistry (SoC): The SoC invites applications in all areas of chemistry. However, preferences will be given to those whose research proposal/areas overlap with the existing faculties' research areas.

School of Mathematics (SoM): The SoM invites applications in all areas of pure and applied mathematics. However, preferences will be given to those whose research areas overlap with the existing faculties' research areas.

School of Physics (SoP): The SoP invites applications in the following areas:

  • Ultrafast and Terahertz spectroscopy
  • Nonlinear Optics (required expertise: finite element method simulations and experiments on dispersion and nonlinear optical phenomenon in Photonic crystal fibers)
  • Surface Science, Nanoscale Imaging and Characterization
  • Quantum Information Theory, Open quantum dynamics
  • Development of photoacoustic tomography (PAT) imaging system. Expertise of the candidate: Experimental knowledge in optics and ultrasound, numerical methods and tomographic reconstruction algorithms, programming languages (MATLAB, LabVIEW, Solidworks, C/C++ (preferred)), image processing and signal processing
  • Conformal Supergravity, AdS/CFT correspondence, Higher-Spin theories in three dimensions.
  • Quantum Engineered FETs and related applications
  • Nanostructured Materials, Energy Applications
  • Organic -Inorganic hybrid optoelectronic devices, which include, solar cells, light emitting diodes and FETs

Summary

  • The Institute Postdoctoral Fellowship (IPF) is a full-time, contractual, postdoctoral position for highly qualified young scientists to carry out research at IISER?TVM. The duration is for 2 years, extendable by up to one more year on the basis of performance. Individual school will evaluates the performance of the fellow every year. The extension of the fellowship will be based on the scientific performance of the fellow. The Fellowship does not imply any commitment regarding any other position at IISER TVM.
  • The Fellowship carries a remuneration of INR 36000/- + HRA for the first year, 38000/- + HRA for the second year, and 40000/- + HRA for the third year. There will be a contingency grant of INR 75,000/-per year that may be used for consumables and attending conferences/workshops. Candidates who have submitted their thesis and have not defended at the time of joining will be provided the Extended Senior Research Fellowship for one year.
  • IPF may not be held concurrently with any other national or international fellowships. It is also not transferable to any other fellowship.

Eligibility

Candidates who have a Ph.D. degree in Biological, Chemical, Mathematical and Physical Sciences/Engineering/Technology and related areas as applicable are eligible to apply. Those who are in the final stages of their Ph.D. thesis submission are also eligible to apply. However, those candidates must have submitted the thesis at the time of the interview.

Preference will be given to the candidates with the award of INSPIRE faculty scheme, DST Women Scientist/Fellowship scheme, DST Ramanujam Fellowship and DBT Ramalingasamy Fellowship.
