Professor Jarugu Narasimha Moorthy took over as the Director of IISER Thiruvananthapuram on 1st April 2019. Prof Moorthy is on deputation from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, where he is a senior Professor (HAG). He is an organic chemist with interests in a range of areas that include organic photochemistry, supramolecular chemistry, organic materials and mechanistic organic chemistry. In recognition of his contributions in chemistry, he has been awarded the prestigious Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize and the J. C. Bose National Fellowship. He is an elected fellow of Indian Academy of Science (FASc.), Bangalore and Indian National Science Academy (FNA), New Delhi. He is also a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC). He is a recipient of bronze and silver medals from Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI).
