Title: Prime-characteristic commutative algebra

Abstract : Every commutative ring of prime characteristic $p$ has the Frobenius endomorphism $F : r \mapsto r^p$. This can be used to study singularities of (the prime spectra of) such rings. We will look at one class of such singularities, called F-rational rings, a notion closely related to rational singularities over complex numbers.
The talk will be expository, and only knowledge of ring theory will be assumed, for the most part.
