Recruitment for the post of JRF on an externally funded project "Assessment of eutrophication status and nutrient recycling in wetlands in Southern India using in situ measurements and ecosystem modelling"

The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram is one of the premier science education and research institutes established by the Government of India in 2008 to impart high-quality education integrated with outstanding research in modern science. The Institute invites applications for the following positions on contract basis

Minimum Educational qualification

Applicants should have a M.Sc./ M.Sc. degree in Marine Science/ Chemical Oceanography/Physical Oceanography/Environmental Science/Marine Biology/Chemistry or Integrated M.Sc./M.Sc. Tech./ M. Tech./BS-MS degree in Earth Sciences/Chemistry or closely related fields. 6.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale (or first-class equivalent) or first class in Master’s program (M.Sc./M.Tech) GATE (with currently valid score)/CSIR-UGC NET qualified or any National Level Examination.
Desirable Qualifications
  • The candidate should have basic understanding of aquatic biogeochemistry
  • The candidate is expected to go for regular field works in estuaries and lakes and hence, expected to be seaworthy.
  • The candidate is expected to get trained on Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry and should be able to handle the instrument alone after the training period.
  • The Candidate should be able to design and carry out aquatic field works and experiments alone if necessary.
  • The candidate should be able to learn and work on ecosystem modelling.
Number of posts 01
Fellowship amount 37,000 per month + (HRA) admissible as per Institute rules.
Tenure of the post The position is initially for a period of one year and is extendable up to two years based on the candidate’s performance and project requirements.
