The Abel Prize is awarded each year to honour deep and lasting contributions to mathematics. This year's laureate, Masaki Kashiwara, has fundamentally reshaped modern mathematics through his pioneering work in algebraic analysis and representation theory.

Prof. K.V. Subrahmanyam will introduce us to Kashiwara's remarkable contributions, including his creation of D-module theory, an algebraic framework for understanding differential equations, and his co-discovery of crystal bases, a cornerstone in the study of symmetries. These ideas, while abstract, have had a profound impact on how mathematicians approach both structure and computation
