Faculty positions at IISER-TVM (Rolling Advertisement)

Applications from eligible Indian Nationals with outstanding academic achievements, ability to establish a vibrant research programme, and with a passion for teaching are invited for various faculty positions of the Institute.

1. Assistant Professor ( on contract)

  1. Ph.D. with First Class at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch with consistently very good academic record throughout.
  2. This appointment is to enable bright young Ph.D.s to teach and earn experience
  3. Assistant Professors on contract are not part of regular faculty cadre
  4. In case such selected candidate wish to get appointed in the regular cadre of Assistant Professor position , they have to apply afresh against open advertisement.

2. Assistant Professor

  1. Ph.D with First Class at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch with consistently very good academic record throughout.
  2. At least three years of post-doctoral research.
  3. Preferably below 35 years of age.

3. Associate Professor

  1. Should have a PhD with First Class at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch with consistently very good academic record throughout.
  2. A minimum of six years of Teaching /Research Experience of which at least three years should be at the level of Assistant Professor at IITs, IISc , IISERs and any such other Indian or foreign Institutions of comparable standards as may be so decided by the Institute.

4. Professor

  1. Should have a PhD with First Class at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch with consistently very good academic record throughout.
  2. A minimum of 10 years of experience of which at least four years should be at the level of Associate Professor in IITs, IISc and IISERs and in any such other Indian or foreign Institutions of comparable standards as may be so decided by the Institute.

Reservations

Without any compromise on qualifications, experience and competence, reservation at the entry level is applicable as per Govt. of India rules. Applicants belonging to the reserved category (SC/ST/OBC/PwD) are encouraged to apply and are required to attach the Category Certificate in the format as prescribed by the Govt. of India.

Candidates employed in Government/Semi-Government Organisation in India

Candidates working under the Central Govt./State Govt./Public Sector Undertakings/ Central Autonomous Bodies in India should submit their applications through proper channel. They may, however, send an advance copy of the application. Those who are unable to forward their application through proper channel may produce an NOC at the time of interview.

General Information

  1. All applications will be acknowledged by email. If an acknowledgment is not received in one week, an email may be sent to the Registrar. Further communication will be sent only to candidates who are shortlisted.
  2. Merely fulfilling the requirements laid down in the advertisement will not automatically entitle any candidate to be called for interview.
  3. The Institute will shortlist the eligible candidates. No interim enquiries /correspondence / communication of any sort will be entertained in the matter.
  4. A duly appointed committee of experts will shortlist the candidates for interview. Shortlisted candidates will be required to give a seminar prior to the interview.
  5. Candidates giving seminar / appearing for interview will be paid traveling expenses, from stations / port of disembarkation within India, as per the Institute norms.
  6. The appointed faculty will be on probation for one year. Continuation after the period of probation will be subject to assessment of performance.
  7. IISER-TVM follows Four tier flexible faculty structure and there would no automatic migration to the salaries and any change in the AGP under Four tier flexible faculty structure will be purely through open advertisement and on the recommendation of duly constituted selection committees.
  8. In addition to the pay and allowances benefits like leave, Leave Travel Concession, Medical Reimbursement etc will be available as admissible to Central Government employees.
  9. Person appointed will be covered under the New Pension Scheme as notified by the Government of India.
  10. Other Incentives:
    1. Reimbursement of travel and relocation expenses not exceeding Rs. 1.25 Lakhs for New Faculty joining from abroad and Rs. 75,000 for those joining from places within India.
    2. A start­ up research grant based on the projections made by the New Faculty for carrying out research programmes.
    3. A Cumulative Professional Development Allowance of Rs. 3 Lakhs for every block of three years (Rs. 1 Lakh per year) on reimbursable basis to meet the expenses for participating in both national and international conferences, paying the membership fee for various professional bodies and contingent expenses.
  11. This rolling advertisement is subjected to availability or anticipation of vacancy of the Institute for various faculty positions and initially ,the applications received upto 30.11.2016 will be considered in the first lot of selection process  and subsequently once in six months. Those who have applied w.r.t our earlier  advertisements have to apply afresh.
  12. The decision of the Institute in all matters shall be final.
