Beyond Fourier series: Fourier transforms and Hermite functions
Abstract:
The Fourier transform is one of the most fundamentaloperations of modern analysis. A quick review of Fourier series willlead to a sketch of the basic properties of Fourier transforms and afew of their applications. We then discuss the Hermite functions, aninteresting family of functions that have a close relationship withthe Fourier transform.
